Before
you begin packing you need to have a plan. For example, you should
arrange to pack one room at a time. This helps when it comes time
to unpack.
Also remember to mark all your boxes, designating room and box number.
When packing, try to keep a per-box weight of 50 pounds or less. This will make moving a lot easier.
Pack all dishware, cups and glasses using plenty of packing paper. Make sure all items are wrapped individually.
Delicate glassware and stemware should be placed in an upright position, not on its side.
All boxes with fragile items should be marked accordingly.
When packing lamps, remove the bulbs, harps and shades. Ideally, you want to pack the lamp with bedding, but wrapping it separately and placing it upright in a carton is a good idea as well.
Pack expensive electronic equipment, such as computers, TVs and VCRs, in the original boxes when possible. However, you can also use a strong cardboard box with extra padding at the bottom. |
